Occasionally, I’ll see this question posed on social media. The scenario goes a little like this: “You have the chance the win a million dollars. The catch? You have to watch the same movie for 24 hours straight. So, could you do it, and what are you watching?”

Um, obviously I’m winning a million dollars, but my household is actually divided. Personally, I can watch the same movie or tv shows over and over again. I like the familiarity, being able to tune in and out without feeling I’ve missed an important scene, and quoting the iconic lines along with the characters.

On the other hand, my partner is not a big comfort movies person. They like giving their undivided attention to a movie or tv show, experiencing the joy for the first time, and watching something from start to finish and calling it a day.

It’s peaked my interest on what percentage of the population enjoys watching their favorite media on repeat. If you’re as curious as me, survey the people in your life and report back. Is my partner in the minority or not? Until then, catch me watching Shrek on repeat until the end of time.
